1. Which departments within the company are integrated within the Order-to-Delivery process ?

Sales department and warehouse department within the company and integrated within the order-to-delivery process. When sales department receive the one-day delivery order, they use the SAP Business one to check the detail in the item master data from inventory part to confirm whether the order can start or not. When they create the sales order, the order is sent to warehouse automatically for further action.

2. Which steps are included in the Order-to-Delivery process ?

When sales manager receive the one-day-delivery order from the customer, they will check all the customer information by using SAP Business one , then she also use this system to check the detail in the item master data from inventory part to confirm whether one-day-delivery can start or not. After this process, she creates the sale order then sending to the warehouse department automatically.

When warehouse manager receive the order, he can easily to drop down for complete detail such as item, customer ship to address. Then he can use the Pick and Pack Manager easily from SAP business one. Using this system, they no need to check in the future. Then he prints out delivery note and packing list for shipment. Until the shipment is pick up by the carrier. The software updated the order automatically and email to client to complete checking detail.


3. What factors would you consider when deciding whether ERP is suitable or not for a small business ?


There operation and business need are the factors of whether ERP is suitable or not for a small business.

In the factor of operation, if the company hasn’t the efficient system to control the process of production and inventory, they need to use the suitable system to control as well. ERP system can help them to unify the process when they receive the order. The system provides the order to delivery function which said that there are no need to worry about the missing order and inaccurate record of inventory hold in warehouse.


In the factor of business need, assume there are only one main customer in the business. In this time, they want to serve more main customer. Because of more customer crowd into, the previous system cannot be suitable for the business. They need to choose the suitable one. ERP system can provide the function to satisfy the business need. Because of the business need, ERP can help them to store the information about the new customer and provide one stop service from order to delivery. To make sure that there are no missing orders and can delivery on time.

  1. Totally agree with your answer. Business needs must be considered when deciding to implement and invest in ERP software. The benefits to the business must be greater than the cost/risks of the software.
